The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus launched in March as the first India-first Lenovo smartphone release. The company also noted they plan to manufacture half the smartphones they sell in India at Indian sites this year. The Vibe K5 Plus comes into the under-Rs 10,000 market at a very reasonable Rs 8,499. Even at this low price, the K5 Plus looks and performs like the upgrade to the Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus phones that it is. It never seems cheap, flimsy of lacking in performance.

Also, colour-matched accents on the front and rear give a polished appearance to the unit. It comes in Champagne Gold, Graphite Grey and Platinum Silver. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus weighs a mere 150 grams, and it fits comfortably in one hand for easy single-handed use. The removable 2750 mAh battery allows a full day of standard usage without recharging and over 290 hours of standby time on 4G.

Inside the Lenovo 5K Plus are a 64-bit Snapdragon 616 processor, integrated Adreno 405 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. Add to this 16 GB of storage and dual microSD cards to realize a total 128 GB storage on this lightweight but powerful phone. It handle multitasking as well as switching between apps with no lag or performance drops. Overall, its performance is smooth and better than many other phones in the same price range. Even large audio files play well while memory-intensive Internet browser Chrome runs are no problem for the Vibe K5 Plus configuration.

The unit runs the Android 5.1 Lollipop IS with a light Vibe UI on top, giving customers a pleasant experience. The 5-inch display offers vibrant colours and good viewing angle range, thanks to the IPS technology. The Vibe 5K Plus supports many different connectivity options, including 4G on both SIM cards. It also comes with LTE Cat 4 for downloads up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi bands a, b, g, n and ac; Bluetooth 4.1 LE, A-GPS, FM, 3G, and 4G with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India.

Photo fans will like the 13-megapixel main camera for its LED flash, OmniVision sensors, and f2.2 aperture. The front 5-megapixel selfie camera has an f2.8 aperture and auto-beautification software. Both cameras take good quality photos with crisp colour reproduction. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus also has TheaterMax VR technology, to convert standard content into split-screen format, giving it the appearance of virtual reality when the optional ANT VR headset accessories are used. The dual Dolby speakers provide excellent sound, as well. On-board sensors include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and a gyroscope.
